Is there a REAL University with online degrees?

I would like to get a Bachelors in Business Administration - Accounting degree. Of course, I am a wife, and work full time, and really don't have the time to go to a campus university. I would, but at the income my husband and I make, we wouldn't be able to keep up on our bills. So I am trying to find a degree that I can get entirely online. I am very skeptical about all those ONLINE schools, I really want a degree that employers are going to respect. Does anyone have any answers for me?

As long as the college (online or campus based) is regionally accredited, any degree you earn should be accepted by any potential employers or other academic institutions.
My best recommendation would be to contact a number of colleges to find the best fit for you and your needs (tuition, schedule, career opportunities, etc.). Too often people enroll in the first school they find rather than taking the time to find the best school for them. Taking that time now could save you a lot of time, money and frustration if you choose the wrong school.
This site has some good info on regionally accredited online bachelors degrees in accounting and some colleges that offer them to help expand your search:

I think you can enter your info on there for any colleges you are interested in and they will send you more info for free. Good Luck!

I can’t give you a name of a specific university, but I can tell you many universities do have online programs and you get the SAME degree. Good luck to you :)

The short answer is: not that I’m aware of. There are some legitimate graduate degrees you can get online and some real schools will have some individual real classes online, but I don’t know of any bachelors degrees that you can get exclusively online from a real school.

That said, if you can swing it, you could consider going at night if you live close enough to a real school. You should certainly be able to at least do the first two years at a community college (which would be a much less expensive route) and then transfer somewhere. In fact, contacting the transfer office at your local community college might be a better place to start than Yahoo Answers. As far as I know, these people aren’t going to push any particular four year school and will be happy to answer your questions even if you don’t attend their institution.

Instead of going through one of those universities that is only online, why don’t you try a state university that offers your program online? I looked into University of Phoenix and a couple others like it for my Master’s degree. Then I found a university in my state that offered the entire program I wanted online. It’s a lot cheaper and I know the degree will mean more to employers in my state because it’s a well-known, accredited university.

Your area of study is commonly offered as an online program at many state universities around the US. Try a couple of the larger universities near you (hint: look up their Distance Learning programs) and I think you’ll be surprised at what you’ll find. You will also have a better chance for financial aid and grants by going to a state university.

American InterContinental University (founded 1970) has an online BBA – Accounting: http://www.aiuonline.edu/online-college-degrees/online-accounting-degree/

Colorado Technical University (founded 1965) has an online BBA – Accounting as well as a bachelor of science in accounting: http://www.coloradotech.edu/Degree-Programs/bachelor-degree-in-accounting.aspx

Both of these schools are regionally accredited and have land campuses. Be aware that while you’ll save on room, board and commuting costs by attending college online, tuition rates are usually about the same– they still have to pay professors, house the computer servers that run their sites, etc. However, with a regionally accredited online school, you can claim federal financial aid if you qualify.

    Good luck.

It’s definitely good to stay away from online schools like Phoenix, Concordia, American InterContinental, Westwood, Kaplan, Penn Foster, DeVry, etc.
Many traditional colleges offer classes/degrees online (and many of them are prestigious colleges). Some of the better ones (ie. Tier 1 universities) are:
(Note: those with a * are the most respected in the country)
    Northeastern (College of Business Administration)
    *Boston University
    *Brandeis
    Drexel
    Duquesne
    Gonzaga
    Lehigh
*Northwestern (Northwestern University, not College–they are different)
    Rutgers (Business School)
    Sacred Heart
    Syracuse
    *George Washington U
    *UNC Chapel Hill
    *U Southern California
    *Vanderbilt

Some other legit colleges that aren’t as prestigious but are still good:
    DePaul
    Arizona State
    U Pittsburgh
    Boise State
    Bowling Green State
    Loyola New Orleans
    Indiana State
    Cal State Monterey Bay
    Cal State Northridge
    Oregon State
    Quinnipiac
    Southern New Hampshire
    U Georgia
    UMass
    UC Irvine
    U Florida
    U Illinois at Chicago
    U Maryland
    U Missouri
    U New England

Of course there are real universities and more importantly accredited online universities.
For people like you with time constraints, online degree are a good option to get a career hike or to improve the qualification in order to get a job.
But you have to do to little research before choosing . The thing you need to keep in mind is that the university you choose must be an accredited one, otherwise it’s just waste of your time & money. Some universities that offer Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration are given at http://www.thedegreeexperts.com/sd-bachelor-of-science-in-business-administration-137.aspx
