Home Inspectors – Are You on YouTube? You Should Be.

Believe it or not, YouTube is the world's second most popular search engine in the world.

That’s right, Google is the only one that gets more hits!

If someone is searching for a home inspector but doesn't see you on YouTube, you’ve missed a great opportunity to get a home inspection.

I saw a study the other day that showed only 17% of consumers turn to traditional business advertising.

But wait! That can be good news . . .

If you’ve read any of my other blog posts you’ll know that nobody does business with your home inspection company until they understand what’s in it for them.

They want to be confident that you have the technical expertise to go over the place with a fine tooth home before they buy and relay to them what you have found, so that they can be sure they aren't buying a money pit.

And you also know from reading my prior posts that consumers want to be able to know, like and trust the people that they do business with.  One of the best ways to show customers you are knowledgeable, trustworthy and a good guy is to have them see you on YouTube.  Through YouTube, buyers will  see the what inspectors are looking for. By watching your videos and they can hear the sound of your voice which helps them start building a “virtual” relationship with you.

You really have two options in the type of videos that you post on YouTube. You can make a little movie showing some of the crazy things inspectors find  or you can produce a screencast video of a single picture or group of pictures.

I know that home inspectors take pictures of all kinds of issues during the course of every inspection. You can put these snapshots on a PowerPoint slide and then use use software that lets you talk to them in the background so they understand what they are viewing. Both styles work well, so you decide which one you like, then , when you’re finished making your video you can upload it to YouTube and start taking advantage of that powerful search engine.

One advantage to about uploading your video to YouTube is that once it’s uploaded, YouTube produces an embed code for you. That way you can link to it on your website or Facebook page.

The other advantage to having your videos posted on YouTube, is that other companies can also link your video to their website or social media. Then when folks come to their website they see your video and  see that you are an expert in your field.

When you take your videos and do more than one thing with them is what we call re-purposing your content.

But wait. Here's some advice before you make your videos.

1.  Make a list of the keywords buyers might use to seek out a home inspector near you.

2.  Figure out what your titles should say to draw the most traffic.

3.  Find out what descriptive words to use so people will think your video is interesting, and so it will appear at the top of the search lists.

4.  You must know how to establish your YouTube channel.

5.  There are just a few of the things you'll have to learn to be on the first page of the search results at YouTube.

Once you learn these things, YouTube will become one of your most powerful  go direct to the public marketing tactics.

Don't worry if a lot of this doesn't make sense. That is why we are here to help you out. Once you become a Member of Home Inspection Marketing Center we'll show you all you should know about using YouTube and how videos can increase your orders.
