If I currently take college in person, can I switch over to online courses during that same semester?

I am attending University of Houston-Downtown. I am registered for 12 semester hours, and I noticed they offered online courses, but that was after I started school back in August.

You should be able to register for an online section of any course if it is offered.
During your registration, when you choose classes there is usually a code for a web-based class. If you have already started classes this semester I would not recommend switching to an online course. They are paced differently and take a lot more motivation. Talk to an academic adviser and see what s/he thinks would be best for you and your plan of study.

Yes, you can switch at any time. You also have the option of being both an "on campus/online" student. This gives you the freedom to attend the courses on campus or online whenever you please.
