Avoid full sentences on a resume. A resume will be glanced at quickly and needs to convey information in a very short period of time. Otherwise, they just trash it.
Your education section should have the name and location (city and state) of your school, the name of your degree, your major field, your projected graduation date, and your GPA. For example:
Troy University (Montgomery, AL)
Associate of Science (Anticipated Graduation in Spring of 2011)
Concentration: Business Administration
GPA: 3.2
Gatlin Educational Services (Montgomery, AL)
Veterinary Assistant Course (Anticipated Completion in Summer of 2010)
Of course, I don’t know what your actual graduation dates and GPA are, but you get the point. Also, since you have not completed your college degree yet, it is customary to include your high school degree information (name, location, GPA, etc) as well as your "in-progress" work.
In your experience section, you should include your high school library media aid position and any other extracurriculars or volunteer work. Again, these should be in a bullet format. For example:
North High School Library Media Aid (2007-2008)
- Interacted with students to answer questions and assist with locating materials
- Organized materials and the media aid workstation
- Accomplished daily tasks, as assigned by the head librarian
Again, I don’t know your exact duties or what years you were in this position, but you get the idea. Don’t SAY that you have no prior job experience. Be proud of the experiences you DO have and list them appropriately. They will be able to tell that you don’t have prior workplace experience, but they will be impressed by the experience you do have, rather than put off by the experience you don’t have. If I were an employer and got to the experience section of your resume and the first thing I saw was, "I have no prior job experience" I would throw your resume away. Remember, they have TONS of resumes to look at. They want to hear positives, not negatives.
Good!
It’s very good. I especially like the summary, where you show that you understand the messy parts of the job.
Usually resumes leave out the I…I part, so for example the Gatlin Educational Services section would say
"Online Veterinary Assistant course to expand knowledge of veterinary office environment and animal anatomy"
The only part I would rewrite is the experience section. Something more like this.
Experience:
George Washington High School: library media aid. 2004-2008
Completed a set list of administrative tasks daily. Maintained well-organized work area. Interacted with and helped other students with library materials and procedures.
Good luck.
