As you have learned, every institution of higher education gets to pick their own name for a subject. Example, Astronomy at SOU is called "Outer Space", but it is still nothing more than Astronomy.
You will need tor research the content of individual courses offered by each college to determine which program that fits your needs. The names of the courses won’t help you at all.
You will need to get the resource material available from each college. A rather daunting task sometimes.
You can get a degree or a certificate in any type of program computer related. The main thing is to have your A+ Certification. This certification means that you are qualified to repair computers (basically).
Colleges and Universities call it different things. One good one is an Associates Degree in Computer Engineering Technology. See the link below for this degree from Louisville Technical Institute.
There are numerous PC Technicians out there. They are a dime a dozen. You might want to expand that knowledge in the computer field. They don’t pay as well as other degrees too. For example, the Geek Squad —they only start out about $12-$14 an hour…depending where you are located.
Get a degree in Programming or one in Computer Science. For example, I have an A.S. in Computer Science and I am working on my B.S. in Information Technology from Sullivan University. I currently work in the IT field and I see that there is a big demand for programmers.
Good luck to you!
