I’m going to Colorado Tech online for Business Administration at the moment, which is more expensive than some of the Internet colleges, but after attending one of the cheaper schools and researching quite a few others, I can say it has been well worth the few extra thousand dollars! The cost is only a few hundred per session.
One of the reasons online colleges and universities are doing so well at the moment is because you aren’t paying for the physical seat to attend. You also aren’t paying for extra software out of pocket because it is part of the tuition. Colorado Tech even does this with the books you will need, if they don’t have an e-book available for the class. Plus, with online schools, you aren’t paying the cost of building additions and things like that. Colorado Tech is actually almost $7000.00 cheaper for the degree program I am taking than if I took it at my local community college, and about $4000.00 less than the state college. I figure that, if this is the case, then you are definitely saving if you are thinking of private institutions, which are always much higher than state or community college. It’s always best to check with your local colleges just to be sure…you might find out that some even offer distance (online) learning at a more affordable price than attending campus classes. For me, the cost is better, but it’s always best to "look before you leap".
If you choose to go to online college, be sure to make sure they are accredited so that your degree will mean something. I have also found that colleges that don’t badger you to attend (calling 5-6 times a day), waste a ton of money on advertising on almost every web site you go to, and stand more on reputation than guerilla marketing tend to be the schools worth going to.
