Where can you study to be a Dental Hygienist or assistant online?

I live in NC and would like to take an online course for either the dental assistant or the Hygienist. I have a high school diploma, am 42 years old and been a homemaker all of my life. Is it possible to receive an associates degree for the Dental Hygienist? Every site that I start to fill out that offers the program, only has other listings such as health care administration,etc. nothing that mentions dental hygienist or assistant. Also, is there any of them that offer financial assistance for online courses as well? Please Help!

Sorry, no dental hygiene online…..maybe assisting…but you will have clinical skills you have to do like x-ray….
Dental hygiene is a very complicated, clinically based career. So you’d have to do that degree in person. (Tons of patient experience with deep cleanings, polishing, oral hygiene instruction, radiology, etc.) Same with assisting; you can read textbooks but you have to do the actual aspiration/instrument handling/sterilization in person.
However, both are EXCELLENT jobs and I’d recommend them if you can spare the time to go to school!
As for online degrees only, you can do business-type ones like medical coding, administrative assisting, human resources, IT stuff, etc. Good luck!
