If this is in the wrong category don't worry about it:

going to be a freshman in college this semester. I'm only going part time 9 credit hours because I will be working. I'm just taking 3 classes this semester all being my basics. I want to get a bs in Business Management. I'm just taking all my basic classes at my tech school then going to a full time online college. Everybody I've told seems to have a problem with that, like I'm lazy or something or that's not real college...Y. The most important thing is I'm going to college, whats the big deal with online courses.

When we consign our young children to public schools, we feel satisfied that they are receiving 'quality education'. But, are we really getting our money's worth? More importantly, are the young children gaining anything from this kind of a learning procedure?

Socialization is hailed as one of the greatest advantage of schools. This is the place where the kid picks up the rudiments of social skills that help him survive. But in truth, a regular school-going child can interact only with his peers. He may bully younger children or fear older ones. He does not know how to behave with an adult. This is because in the school environment he interacts only with his peers. A homeschooling environment brings in a more natural social environment.

A regular school going youngster cannot read literature. He cannot keep silent or think in depth about any one thing. The artificial 'busy'ness imposed upon him by the school disallows quiet contemplation. Rowdy and destructive behavior, as seen among peers, is more noticeable in school-goers.

There is little long-standing knowledge among regular school goers because most things are learnt for the exam. There is no correlation of facts with life. The youngster may know a lot, but understands very little. This is where the homeschoolers beat the regular school goers. Ultimately, homeschoolers emerge more adept at facing the outside world.

This is so strange. I have been looking for weeks. I am not interested in your opinion if this is a scam, well I am. But, it is not relevant to my concern/question. I am not looking for "colleges" or information on typical(more standard types of education). I am not looking to obtain a degree or a diploma from an accredited information. I do not how to provide more clarity. Please keep the above in mind when responding. It is strange no one ever does.

4-6 months ago I surfed across a website. This website had literally thousands(ok possibly only hundreds) of classes from Philosophy to Art To Sexuality. These 'courses' were offered by regular people(for the most) part who considered them selves experts in the area. You could log into this site, track classes you were interested in, watch videos about the classes, review selected classes interact with others and teachers. I am 70% sure the site was called something universe or universe something. I do not know, I do not remember. The classes ranged from -35(about) without a certification of completion mailed. If you want a hard copy 'cert' not a degree the cost went up to about -90.

I mean this place had every topic under the sun. It was in expensive. Classes were flexible. It was just a cool idea. If you think it is a stupid or pathetic idea that is fine. I do not see how complaining about that here answers my question. If you are an idiot who is unable to market their MLM/online business and you want to post me 4-5 words and a link to your silly online business you are failing at.... That is spam, that is not fine. It is not useful or relevant to the question. It is a direct violation. Keep that in mind before you market your crap.

The Alien in the White House

Excerpts

The deepening notes of disenchantment with Barack Obama now issuing from commentators across the political spectrum were predictable. So, too, were the charges from some of the president's earliest enthusiasts about his failure to reflect a powerful sense of urgency about the oil spill.

There should have been nothing puzzling about his response to anyone who has paid even modest critical attention to Mr. Obama's pronouncements. For it was clear from the first that this president—single-minded, ever-visible, confident in his program for a reformed America saved from darkness by his arrival—was wanting in certain qualities citizens have until now taken for granted...

A great part of America now understands that this president's sense of identification lies elsewhere, and is in profound ways unlike theirs. He is hard put to sound convincingly like the leader of the nation, because he is, at heart and by instinct, the voice mainly of his ideological class. He is the alien in the White House, a matter having nothing to do with delusions about his birthplace..

One of his first reforms was to rid the White House of the bust of Winston Churchill—a gift from Tony Blair—by packing it back off to 10 Downing Street. A cloudlet of mystery has surrounded the subject ever since, but the central fact stands clear. The new administration had apparently found no place in our national house of many rooms for the British leader who lives on so vividly in the American mind. Churchill, face of our shared wartime struggle, dauntless rallier of his nation who continues, so remarkably, to speak to ours. For a president to whom such associations are alien, ridding the White House of Churchill would, of course, have raised no second thoughts.
